Are you are feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to start in getting yourself from your current abode to your new home? You are not alone. The team at Light Transitions can help you, or a family member, organise and help with your next move.

We have a particular focus (but not exclusively) on retirement and aged care relocations, and If you need a little extra assistance because of an age related or other disability we can provide a competent, trustworthy and respectful service, taking into account your physical and emotional needs. There are 3 main phases to what we could do to help you…

Options for the Move Assessment and Initial Planning Phase:

  • Meet with you, assess your unique situation and then present you with options and estimates for the management of, and help with, your next move
  • When you have chosen which option, or options, suit you best we can then conduct a comprehensive and collaborative planning session with all involved
  • Then we can create a personalised step by step plan (allocating tasks that you want to manage yourself and those that we can help you with) that will help turn a stressful, bewildering process into a calm and organised new beginning for the next stage in your life

  • Provide support throughout the whole moving process and aim for the least disruption to routine as we know a change on this scale can be a very stressful
  • Help with evaluating and assessing options if required for eg. retirement villages, aged care facilities or smaller homes suitable for aging in place living

Options for the Move Preparation Phase :

  • Work through the step by step plan, including floor planning of your new home, so you know what will or won’t fit in your new home, and downsizing your belongings where necessary
  • Obtain quotes from real estate agents, tradespeople, storage options if required and movers
  • Create a home contents inventory (and help with organising item valuations if required) including photographic evidence of your belongings for insurance purposes should there be eg a cyclone, flood or break in, in the future
  • Help with professional communications with real estate agents, insurers, executor, lawyer, accountant and family
  • Oversee tradespeople as they prepare your home and garden ready for listing for sale
  • Take care of disconnecting your utilities and setting up new services for your new home
  • Organise and oversee the final cleaning of the house once you have moved out

Options for the Action Phase :

  • Oversee the whole moving process and support you through the packing phase and moving day
  • Get your important items unpacked, beds made and you settled in for your first night in your new home
  • Remove packing materials and be of help where required to help you make your new house feel like your home
